Apple Pond Farm, Callicoon Center New York
I went to bed inspired by the energy and enthusiasm of our region’s new farmer collaborative C.R.A.F.T. (Collaborative of Regional Alliance for Farmer Training) in the Catskills. A diverse group assembled for the last meeting of the season to wrap up their accomplishments of their first season and plan for next year. “Seasoned” farmers attended to offer ideas and support for future craft programs.
Steve Burnet left of Bovina, New York in Delaware County shares his plan of a micro-brewery using his farm grown hops and malt. Steve also produces local oils from sunflower and flax which he plans to market shortly. Trina Pilanero, of Silver Heights Farm in Cochecton Center, New York attended to offer her expertise in producing Certified Organic transplants in greenhouse production.
